I've monitored this fight from the beginning. And this is what I can say. CFC clearly won. But the victory was not killing off the N3 Titans. The fact that CFC lost so much in a 2.1:1 odds against N3 could be spun for a clear N3 victory. A morale boost. Sure, they lost a lot. But the fact that they were able to take out so much on the way down is ridiculous. This is outside the fact they had more they could have brought in. No, the victory for the CFC was not the killing of the N3 ships. The victory comes in the execution. Whether by accident or some unknown brain in a closet somewhere, the battle we just witnessed realized how eve will have to be played moving forward.

This is what I hope happened:

Someone in the CFC had an eye opening experience with the HED-GP fight. They realized that being the last on field meant certain doom when it came to eve online server load. Soul Crushing Lag and infinite Warp Tunnels would open up to a quick trip back to station. Even tho this was a PL staging system, CFC hauled ass to escalate the grid before N3 could. If N3 had escalated the grid before the CFC, then this battle would not have turned out in the favor of the CFC. CFC also learned that if they load grid with subcaps before their capitals, they are going to have a bad time. So the majority of their subcap fleet headed over to a neighboring staging system I-N. This effectively allowed the CFC to prevent N3 from loading B-R grid with capitals early in the fight. Then it was all about pushing as many capitals as you can into the system, effectively preventing your opponent from ever being able to reinforce their fleet.

Unfortunately for the CFC, N3 did not jump their remaining capital fleets into B-R as this would have resulted in a similar showing to the CFC's HED-GP fight. Dread pilots sent home before ever seeing the warp tunnel. Tho a large loss, it could have been a lot larger.

In closing, the CFC did exactly what they needed to do and they either realized it before N3 did, or this was all by accident. There is a certain way these battles need to be fought. And it's not based on your FC or your fleet composition. It's based on the technical limitations of the hardware hosting the server. If you are able to escalate the grid before your opponent, you will win the fight. This, of course, only really aimed towards N3 vs CFC/RUS capital engagements. I do not see any other forces on the eve map that could do this. But moving forward, the winner will be the coalition that is able to escalate the grid before the other. At that point, the opposition will have a choice to lose the strategic objective or to lose the strategic objective and every capital you jump into system.

2.1:1 odds and boasting about a win when you lost quite a bit yourself is not something to be smug about. Effectively identifying how the engagement needed to be executed by understanding technical limitations of the server and rewriting how these super engagements will be determined moving forward. That's something to be smug about."">
"Victory is being claimed for all the wrong reasons.
