MAKE SURE YOU MEET THE minimum system requirements!!!

This is the number 1 cause of all problems in here.

If you have an issue not covered here, please start a new topic to get proper help. Only reply in here if you want to add a question/solution to the FAQ or update/correct one already posted, or talk about how awesome the tech corner guys are.

The FFAQ - Frequently frequented asked questions:
1) Ventrillo (vista) - run as administrator.
2) DirectX - Vista, yes you have to install the "latest version" of directx9.0c even though you have dx10 already.
3) Login Problems? Make sure your master account (https://accounts.eamythic.com/) and your warhammer sub account have different passwords. Master account and warhammer sub account are not the same as your beta center account. You can change your warhammer sub-account password in the subscriptions tab, near the bottom should be a change password button.
4) Direct2Drive "your warhammer folder is missing a large number of files"? Make sure to extract the zip file with a different program other than the included xp/vista unzipper. 7zip | winrar | winzip
5) Nvidia 9600gt - Getting a black screen of death? "After an hour or so of gaming my monitor will stop receiving a signal and my computer will lock up (repetitive sound bites, etc)".There are major issues with a great deal of these card across many of the manufacturers. Please see your brands website for information on replacing your card. There are other solutions such as downclocking your card, which you can do with evga's precision tool or rivatuner or any other overclocking tool. Search for more information on page 3 and 4 or on google. - Thanks Tinuva & Gamerjoevita!

8. Tips, Tricks, Tweaks and Additional Help

1. Installation Issues and Tips
Dvd/Client download/install issues goes here. Fileplant issues too while in beta.

1.1 [Beta] I'm stuck at the Fileplanet download manager. It starts downloading for a split second, and then switches to a big red "!" and "could not initialize file" (Vista).
Close the download manager. Right click on it's icon and select "run as administrator".

1.2 [Beta] When using Fileplanet's download manager the Warhammer file moves straight to the "file complete" tab then tells me there is a "network error (file info)"
Disable Norton AutoProtect or any other security suite you may have. Or better yet add the download manager to your exclusion list. This may be an issue with either the scanner or the software firewall(not windows firewall) built into these programs.

1.3 When I click setup it says I need a newer DirectX.
You need to install the latest version of DirectX 9.0c, don't worry, it'll work fine along with DirectX 10 in Vista.

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

http://www.softwarepatch.com/windows/directx.html - if the microsoft downloader is giving you problems.

2. Client errors and problems

2.1 - When I enter my login and password nothing happens?
Make sure you are using your warhammer online sub account (not beta center) and not your master account information. Make sure that your master account and warhammer account are not using the same password! - Thanks bubujobob! You can change your warhammer sub account in the subscriptions tab of your master account (bottom of page, ugly orange button).

Also try running the patcher as an administrator(Vista). Right click the icon and select "run as administrator". Disable any software firewalls (not windows firewall) or antivirus suites to test (especially norton autoprotect), if they're the cause add warpatch.exe and war.exe to your exclusion lists.

Nforce motherboards with the "hardware" firewall causes problems with this and many other apps. To remove, uninstall the network access manager.

The warhammer account is a sub account that you created under your master account, to put your beta, headstart and item codes into. You need to have a master account created at https://accounts.eamythic.com/ . Your oringal beta center account (if you had one made on mythic's webpage) will have codes in it so that you can move your associations to a new master account.

2.2 - When trying to start the game I get: "Patch Error! The Patch Client was unable to update the file [patcher.prod]. Please ensure the game is not already running and there is free space on the disk."
Obviously first make sure you're not already running the game. If you're not then push control-alt-delete and start the task manager. Look for and select war.exe and end the process.

2.3 - "The patch client was unable to retrieve the file [patcher.prod.sig] from the patch server. Please retry the patch operation again in a short while".
This is usually caused by network issues. Software Firewalls, Security suites, corporate firewalls may be blocking your connection to the patch server. Try disabling them first to check if that's the issues (espcially norton auto protect). If it is the problem set warpatch.exe and war.exe to your exclusion lists. It's also possible that your having internet service issues or mythic's patching servers might be down.

2.4 - When trying to load the game after warpatch I get: Critical error: Warhammer will now terminate or failed to create render device -- exiting now.
This usually means either your computer does not meet the minimum system requirements or that you need to update your video card drivers.

If you have an integrated video card in your system and have updated to a discreet gpu, or if you have upgraded your gpu (either same brand or different brand ie nvidia -> ati) YOU MUST CLEAN OUT THE OLD DRIVERS even if you're using the same brand of card, you also need to disable the integrated video card in your bios (don't skip over this step if you don't know how it WILL cause problems if it's still active, google for more information if you need to). Please see section 5.5 to read up on how to install video card drivers properly.

In Vista try to disable display scaling on high DPI settings. Right click WAR shortcut- Properties- Compatibility- Disable display scaling on high DPI settings. - Thanks Orangeheaven!

For information on upgrading your video card (desktops only) see Nerror's excellent Guide to Building a WAR ready PC! for advice on building and upgrading components in your PC.

2.5 - "Warhammer: Age of Reckoning has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." - Thanks cattlekiller!
Make sure you meet the minimum system requirements (This is important!!!). Also make sure you are running warpatch.exe and not war.exe directly. Also make sure you have run setup.exe, you have to run it again if you moved the folder.

XP - Make sure your sound device's hardware acceleration is set to full. - Thanks Grolthok & Brianc4chaos!
To check, go to control panel/sound & audio devices -> speaker settings / advanced -> performance and make sure hardware acceleration is set to full.

2.6 - "Runtime Error! -floating point support not loaded"
It's very likely you have a virus/worm. If you don't have antivirus or haven't been keeping up with your subscriptions, please download and run some of these free alternatives.

Free Antivirus(pick ONLY one):
http://free.avg.com/ - AVG
http://www.free-av.de/en/download/1/...antivirus.html - Avira (my recommendation for free antivirus)
http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html - Avast

Free Antispyware(can run multiple if you want):
http://www.superantispyware.com/down...NTISPYWAREFREE - SuperAntiSpyware (my recommendation)
http://www.safer-networking.org/index2.html - Spybot S&D

2.7 - Warhammer Folder is missing a large number of files.
Make sure you're using the right client for your region. North America make sure you have the fileplanet downloaded client, EU make sure you have the goa supplied download.

Direct2Drive: Make sure to extract the zip file with a different program other than the included vista/xp unzipper. - Thanks Taym & WARalka!

winzip | 7zip | winrar

EU download - If your downloaded installation files are named "warbetaeu_3210[...]" then you have the wrong (old) files. You must re-download the installation files using the NEW downloader from the official EU site. You cannot use the old downloader that you used for closed beta, it fetches the wrong files. You cannot patch from Closed Beta to Open Beta, you must re-download. - Thanks Bishop!

3. In-Game Technical/Performance Issues
(check section 4/5 as well if your question isn’t covered here)

3.1 - I'm getting terrible performance in game(general).
Nvidia card users: See this thread and follow the instructions carefully (especially the steps after 7, this is not just a post about how to install drivers but more about setting up a profile for war and this ABSOLUTELY works): http://www.warhammeralliance.com/for...d.php?t=110279 - Thanks style174! I also noticed that sli profiles seem to confuse warhammer age of reckoning with warhammer dawn of war, I wonder if this is related somehow. Another thing to try is setting multi-display/mixed-gpu acceleration in manage 3d settings/global settings to single display performance mode.

If you're at or near the minimum system requirements, please understand that those recommendations are only for being able to start the game and maybe looking around. To have a truly enjoyable experience in Warhammer Online you will probably need to upgrade.

Please check out Nerror's excellent Guide to Building a WAR ready PC! for advice on building and upgrading components in your PC.

If you have a brand new or high end system also see "I'm having computer performance issues" in section 4.4. Or if you're unsure if your system can properly play warhammer at all see "can my computer play warhammer" in section 4.2

3.2 - Stuck at FIRST Loading Screen.
There seems to be 2 reasons causing this, one may just be network issues with the servers, keep trying and it might work also update your network adapter drivers (this has solved the problem for many people). The other possibility is your sound device might be using old drivers, update your sound drivers if you can (plugging in a usb headset may work as well - Thanks Brillig). Make sure to grab drivers direct from the actual provider and not just the motherboard manufacturer / oem (dell/hp).

If you're using a realtek HD audio device:
http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/...3&DownTypeID=3

For Realtek AC97: http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/...&GetDown=false

Creative: http://support.creative.com/Products...=Sound+Blaster

Also try disabling your security suite or software firewall (not windows firewall) as well to see if that might be contributing to it (norton especially). If it is, set warhammer to your exclusion list.

In Vista try to disable display scaling on high DPI settings. Right click WAR shortcut- Properties- Compatibility- Disable display scaling on high DPI settings (change it back if this doesn't work). - Thanks Orangeheaven!

Nforce: try removing the hardware firewall by uninstalling network access manager. This doesn't always work though so you might need to completely remove and reinstall your motherboard drivers and selecting custom install and making sure not to install the firewall and network manager. Also don't use teaming/firstpacket if that available on your model.

3.3 - Character Creation Issues - Black screen/Missing textures etc.
This might be caused by having customized language options in your windows install. It seems mostly caused by having the $ replaced with the € symbol, also changing the decimal to a comma will cause this problem as well (other customizations may cause it as well). Changing those options and others back to default in the "regional and language" panel should fix it.

- Thanks Ilikebattle, Nes, FGBizen and tnkflx!

3.4 - Stuck at SECOND loading screen after selecting your character.
It's likely to either be a network issues or a video adapter driver issue. If you have a software firewall (not windows firewall) or an antivirus/security scanner, try disabling that first to test. Another thing to try is updating your network adapter drivers. Look at your manufacturers webpage or google for newer drivers. Also try updating your video card drivers properly (see section 5.5). Try playing in windowed mode.

If you customized your language options in windows check 3.3 as this will definitely cause problems with warhammer.

If you are running an ATI card, turn on your "Support DXT texture formats" in your Catalyst control centre. - Thanks farkinid!

Nforce motherboards seem to cause crashes and network instability in this game when using the built in network card because it shares the same irq as one or some of the sata ports. Try moving your harddrive to another sata port. Also try removing the hardware firewall by uninstalling network access manager. This doesn't always work though so you might need to completely remove and reinstall your motherboard drivers and selecting custom install and making sure not to install the firewall and network manager. Also don't use teaming/firstpacket if that available on your model.

Another possible solution is to disable checksum offload in your network adapter:
first go to>control panel>system>hardware tab>device manager

now double click on your network adapter, go to the advanced tab and disable checksum offload you may get disconnected for a few seconds. If this doesn't work for you make sure to switch it back. - Thanks Txus!

3.5 - Windows Crashes or Freezes while playing the game, or game exits without warning. Black screen crashes.
Updating your onboard sound device drivers has been known to solve this issue (get your drivers direct not just from the oem/motherboard manufacturer, check 3.2 for more info). Try disabling (not just closing but actually disabling it) your security suite as well to see if that might be contributing to it. Try the solutions in 3.2/3.3.

In Vista try to disable display scaling on high DPI settings. Right click WAR shortcut- Properties- Compatibility- Disable display scaling on high DPI settings (change it back if this doesn't work). - Thanks Orangeheaven!

Nforce motherboards seem to cause crashes and network instability in this game when using the built in network card because it shares the same irq as one or some of the sata ports. Can try moving your harddrive to the other ports I believe ports 1&2 share the same ports or maybe it was 3&4 ? Also try removing the hardware firewall by uninstalling network access manager. This doesn't always work though so you might need to completely remove and reinstall your motherboard drivers and selecting custom install and making sure not to install the firewall and network manager. Also don't use teaming/firstpacket if that available on your model.

Nvidia 9600gt: There is a major problem with quite a few revisions of this card which causes a black screen of death crash after a little while playing. You may need to rma your card, please see your manufacturer's homepage for support.

If you're running on Apple Bootcamp please see this thread: - Thanks Vertinox
http://www.warhammeralliance.com/for...ad.php?t=53847

Also see 4.3 Computer stability issues.

3.6 - Graphical strangeness, distortions and anomalies in game.
This is almost always caused by one of three problems. Drivers are old or installed incorrectly. Or your video cards temperature may be too high. Finally and obviously, if your video card is below or near minimum system requirements, you will have problems.

For drivers, please see Section 5.5 for proper installation tecniques.

For temperature issues, most video cards come with some way to monitor your temperatures now. Please see your manufacturers website for more information on how to do that and what ideal and dangerous temperatures would be for your video card.

To upgrade your video card check out Nerror's excellent Guide to Building a WAR ready PC! for advice on building and upgrading components in your PC.

3.7 - While in game I can hear sounds and game appears to be responsive but no display or Game exits while trying to play certain characters.
This seems to be a common symptom for a wide range of issues. Will keep this updated as more solutions are posted.

Sometimes characters become corrupted, try making an alt after restarting and see if you still have the same problem. There is no fix for this problem yet. Also see "3.3 windows crashes..." if your game is crashing.

3.8 - "Authentication Failed -- application will now terminate" - Thanks cattlekiller!
Make sure you are running warpatch.exe and not war.exe directly. Also make sure your master account and warhammer account do not share the same password. Make sure you're using the right client (ie american client uses fileplanet download, and eu client uses goa's download). Update your onboard sound device drivers, get your drivers direct not just from the oem/motherboard manufacturer, check 3.2 for more info.

Stolen from Magnusk and Goa CS-
If you’re having trouble connecting to the WAR servers, it might be that your firewall is blocking the WAR client. If you are using the Windows firewall, this is how you can add an exception for the WAR client: Click on the Start button. Click on Control Panel. Depending on which Desktop Style you have chosen to use, follow the appropriate directions below: Windows XP default desktop: Click on Security Centre. Now click on Windows Firewall. Windows Classic desktop: Click on Windows Firewall. Please be sure that the radio button is set to on (recommended) and that there is no check in the box that says don't allow exceptions before continuing. Click the Exceptions tab. Click on the Add Programs Button. Click on the Browse button. Add the file warhammer.exe. Then click the Open button to add the file to the list. Click Ok. Click the Add Program Button again. Click Ok twice. Repeat this procedure for warpatch.exe and warpatch.bin.

Additionally you may need to configure your router settings to open the following ports
UDP port 1024-65535
TCP port 8040-8049
TCP port 10622

This is done in your router configuration settings, you can find out how to do this by checking the router manual or looking up online at your routers manufactures website.
- Thanks MagnusK & Goa CS
================================================== =====

Nforce users (this has been a problem for many many nforce motherboards): try removing the hardware firewall by uninstalling network access manager. This doesn't always work though so you might need to completely remove and reinstall your motherboard drivers and selecting custom install and making sure not to install the firewall and network manager. Also don't use teaming/firstpacket if that available on your model.

Norton Security Suite (or any software firewall -comodo, zonealarm etc.): try disabling autoprotect, you might need to actually go into settings and disable the firewall, (don't worry you won't leave it off) just exiting the program won't work. If it works after doing that then you need to add war.exe and warpatch.exe to your exclusions list or open the ports manually.

This error is pretty generic so if the above didn't help you there could be an incredible amount of possibilities as to why you're getting this error. A good idea would be to read through your warhammer folder/logs/system.log to get a more indepth perspective on what's causing the error. Read through this post for more ideas and resolutions: http://www.warhammeralliance.com/for...ad.php?t=74068

4. General Computer Technical/Performance Issues

4.1 How do I tell what components I have? / I have a [Dell, HP, Gateway, other brand name] and I don't know if my system can play Warhammer / What information do I need to add to my post to help resolve my computer problems?
If you're receiving or going to post for performance help in the tech corner, it's generally a good idea to include your computer's Brand and Model number (if applicable), MotherBoard Manufacturer & Model, Cpu Name, Ram amount and type, Video card type/name and Operating System at the very least. You can find most of this information from your manufacturer's receipt/packing slip, running dxdiag, or running gpu-z and cpu-z.

http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php

http://www.techpowerup.com/downloads/SysInfo/GPU-Z/

If someone is asking you for your dxdiag, in order to retrieve that information you:

Windows XP:
1) Click the Start button then click Run...
2) in the Open: box type in dxdiag and push enter.
3) Let all the information load, might take a little bit (wait till the green bar fills then disappears).
4) Click on save all information on the bottom, and save the file to the desktop or somewhere you can access it quickly.
5) Open the text file and copy and paste the text to your post.

Windows Vista:
Same as Windows XP except:
1) Click the Windows button
2) in the Start Search box type dxdiag and push enter.
3) follow rest of xp instructions

4.2 Will my computer run Warhammer Online?
A fast way to check is to go to this website and select warhammer online in the pull down box. Then run the scan.
http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/referrer/srtest
It's a good guide on seeing if your computer meets the minimum specs but don't read too much into it's performance estimates. If you really want to know how well your computer will do, find posts in the tech corner with similar setups as yours or create a new post asking for advice.
For desktops read through Official Minimum System Requirements and The Recommended WAR System Requirements - gathering beta results
For laptops read through this excellent thread by Ayetalam - Laptop Gamers Help Thread

4.3 I’m having computer stability issues.
If you can get into windows the first things to do is remember what you did before the instability started. If you installed a new program or hardware or drivers, even a new usb device, that is most likely the cause. Try to remove those items first or rollback to an earlier more stable driver. If you have system restore on that might be worth using if you were stable before.
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/u...emrestore.mspx

If that doesn't help let's try some digging. If you don't have a good security suite or let your current Norton/Mcafee subscriptions run out (I'm looking at you dell and hp owners ) there's a good chance you might be infected with something. This will impact the stability and performance of your computer, not to mention the security of your personal information. If you're a cheapskate like the rest of us here, fortunately there are some superb free antivirus and antispyware programs out ther for you to use.

Free Antivirus(pick ONLY one):
http://free.avg.com/ - AVG
http://www.free-av.de/en/download/1/...antivirus.html - Avira (my recommendation for free antivirus)
http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html - Avast

Free Antispyware(can run multiple if you want):
http://www.superantispyware.com/down...NTISPYWAREFREE - SuperAntiSpyware (my recommendation)
http://www.safer-networking.org/index2.html - Spybot S&D

Todo: sfc scannow instructions and information plus chkdsk.

If you can't boot into windows you might have a serious hardware issue, please post in the tech corner with as much information as possible (computer brand/model/specs, as much info about the error, and anything that might have changed in the system or caused the error).

Some quick possibilities as to system instability is:
-overclocking instability - If you know how to overclock your system then you should know better then to try to diagnose problems while still overclocked ;p
-high temperatures - http://www.almico.com/speedfan.php
-power supply not supplying enough power - http://extreme.outervision.com/psucalculatorlite.jsp (dont rely too heavily on this calculation though use it as a guide)
-hard drive failure - http://www.pcstats.com/articleview.c...id=1583&page=1
-bad ram sticks - http://www.memtest.org/

4.4 I’m having computer performance issues.
Under construction: Anyone feel like writing this?
Include instructions to run antivirus, spyware remove, defrag and links for free software. In both vista and xp. Video card drivers, msconfig.

4.5 Can I run Warhammer on a Mac?
Not with OSX. You'll have to install/run bootcamp and install either Windows XP or Vista onto your Mac.

http://www.apple.com/support/bootcamp/

4.6 Instability while running 3d games with Apple's bootcamp utilizing Windows XP and using an ATI Video Card.
http://www.warhammeralliance.com/for...ad.php?t=53847
- Thanks Vertinox

Incase the link/post goes down:
Essentially you need to upgrade the drivers with modtool and/or downclock the card.

4.7 Should I upgrade to Vista 32/64 or stay with XP.
Vista is a great operating system, however do not upgrade expecting better performance. The general consensus is to upgrade when you build or buy a new computer. As for whether or not to go to 64 bit or stay at 32 bit, 64bit is not as limited in the amount of ram that it can access and utilize so is therefore superior going into the future.

4.8 Will warhammer utilize my dual/multi core Processors (Pentium D, CoreDuo, Core2Duo, X2, X3, X4)?
Yes. How efficiently is still being determined. So far it seems multicores (over 2) are being used but not load balanced efficiently. Majority of the processing is still being done on the first two cores.

4.9 The minimum system requirements states I need a 2.5Ghz processor, however I have a dual core/multi core that's below this amount, can I play Warhammer?
Yes you will be fine, most likely. The system requirements call for a pentium 4 single core at 2.5ghz. Nearly every dual and multi core systems released in the last few years will be much more powerful then the minimum processor.

4.10 - My laptop exceeds the minimum system requirements yet is still having performance issues with Warhammer?
Keep in mind that laptop parts usually underperform their desktop counterparts, sometimes significantly. If you believe that your laptop should be good enough to run warhammer then there's a couple things to try.

First your video card drivers might be way out of date. Unfortunately most OEM's (dell, hp, gateway, etc) do not update their video card drivers for their laptops more then once, some not at all.

Luckily if you have an nvidia card you can go to: http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/ and download new drivers for your card. Please read their Guide before trying to update the drivers by yourself.

For ATi - http://www.driverheaven.net/modtool.php - read the instructions carefully.

Read section 5.5 if your performance actually goes down after installing new drivers. Also you can follow along with "4.4 My computer is having performance issues" for some general things to try to help your performance.

5. Graphics Specific Issues/Corruption

5.1- What are some tools to help me in figuring out what graphics card and interface I have?
Download the newest version of GPU-Z here:

http://www.techpowerup.com/downloads/SysInfo/GPU-Z/

5.2 - What are some basic steps I can take to help my graphics card's performance?
1) Downloading the newest drivers for your video card:
Nvidia | ATI - Make sure you get the correct drivers for your operating system. See the header "horrible performance after upgrading graphics card/drivers" for proper installation of new drivers.
On a laptop?
Nvidia - http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/ - read the forum guides.
ATi - http://www.driverheaven.net/modtool.php - read the instructions.
2) Turning down the eyecandy, view distance, texture quality, shadows, anti aliasing(AA) will help performance alot.
3) If you're running at a high resolution, turning this down will help alot on performance, but may look horrible if you're using an LCD screen.

5.3 - Will my or any PCI card work?
The HD2400 Pro from ATI might be your best shot at getting the game to run, however if you are limited to PCI you will have pretty bad performance no matter what.

As for whether your specific card can run warhammer, if it's listed in the minimum system requirements and the rest of your system also meets or exceeds those requirements, you might have a chance.

5.4 - What kind of performance can I expect from my AGP card and what is the best upgrade I can get?
AGP cards will generally underperform PCIE cards when they match, however being an older standard no new high performance cards are made for it. Probably the best video card you can currently get for the AGP interface is the Radeon HD 3850.

If you meet or exceed the warhammer minimum system requirements you should still be able to run the game.

5.5 - I'm getting horrible performance after upgrading my graphics card or drivers or How do I update my drivers properly?
This is usually from not properly uninstalling the previous drivers first. It does not matter if you're upgrading to the same manufacturer or switching you still need to remove the old drivers properly.

When updating drivers you can usually get away with installing new drivers on top of the old ones, but not always and it'll eventually catch up with you. Usually just uninstalling the old drivers, rebooting and installing the new drivers is enough to do a "cleanish" install. However look below for the best way to upgrade drivers / graphics cards (especially if you're having performance issues after doing either).

Before you start make sure you download the newest drivers for your video card:
Nvidia | ATI - Make sure you get the correct drivers for your operating system
On a laptop?
Nvidia - http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/ - read the forum guides.
ATi - http://www.driverheaven.net/modtool.php - read the instructions.

Proper method Windows XP (print/write this out before starting):
1) Install Driver Cleaner: http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=745
2) Go to Add/Remove Programs in your Control Panel
3a) Nvidia - Remove Nvidia Display Drivers / Nforce Boards:Nvidia Drivers (Select only the display drivers)
3b) ATI - If you have "ATI - Software Uninstall Utility" use that to uninstall everything for ATI. If you don't, uninstall ati display drivers, ati catalyst control center, and ati wdm(if it's there) seperately.
4) Reboot, and be ready to hit the F8 key to get into safe mode.
5) When your computer restarts and after the bios loads start tapping the F8 key repeatedly before the windows logo shows up. If you see the logo you missed it and need to just reboot to try again. If you got it right you'll see options pop up that let you start up safe mode (just regular safe mode you don't need the other options).
6) After windows safe mode loads up, start driver cleaner (you installed it right?).
Nvidia - select only the pull down option "Nvidia" and click start.
ATI - select the option "select multiple cleaning filters" and select as many of the ati selections that pertain to you (Atleast ati, ati ccc, ati wdm / ati igp if you have an integrated card).
Reboot normally.
7) When windows reboots, Install the new drivers you downloaded. Reboot once more. Enjoy your clean driver install.

Proper method Windows Vista32/64 (print/write this out before starting):
1) Install Driver Sweeper - http://www.guru3d.com/category/driversweeper/
2) Go to "Uninstall a program" or "Programs and Features(classic view) in your Control Panel
6) After windows safe mode loads up, start driver sweeper (you installed it right?). You might need to right click the driver sweeper icon and "run as administrator" if you're are getting errors.
Nvidia - select Nvidia - Display only and click clean.
ATI - select ATi - Display only and click clean.
Reboot normally.
7) When windows reboots, Install the new drivers you downloaded. Reboot once more. Enjoy your clean driver install.

5.6 - I see a green horizontal line while playing games and I’m using SLI.
Click off "Show GPU load balancing" in the SLI options of your Nvidia control panel.

5.7 - Will Warhammer Online utilize my SLI/Crossfire system?
Yes, but how efficiently is still being determined. SLI seems to have some problems with drivers/profiles. Might be fixed with new drivers? As for performance, it is very very likely that nvidia and ati will optimize sli/crossfire on their respective cards for warhammer online, prior to and after release.

5.8 - Why does my SLI/Crossfire system stutter in games?
This might be caused by what is called microstuttering. It's fixed supposedly in ATi's HD4000 series of video cards.

6. Internet/network Issues

6.1 Is my internet connection good enough for war? Can I play this game on a modem? Satellite?
Need more information from beta participants. Satellite connections seem to be timing out during verification, so are unable to play. Hopefully mythic will allow a longer/editable response time in the release client.

6.2 I play on a capped/metered connection will I be going over my quotas?
You shouldn’t be going over your quota just from playing Warhammer Online (even extensively) unless it’s very low. Even still, it would probably be a good idea to keep track of your usage even if just for a few days. Try:
http://codebox.no-ip.net/controller?page=bitmeter2
to figure out your average/normal usage over a few days or over a week and you should be able figure out if you will go over your cap or not.

6.3 What ports does warhammer use?
Warhammer patcher uses http/tcp port 1380. In game: TCP: 8046

7. Sound and Misc

7.1 - Ventrillo doesn't seem to pick up my hotkey when I'm in game (Vista).
You need to run the client as an administrator. Right click the ventrillo icon and select "run as administrator", or right click the icon then select properties, click on the top tab "compatability" and then on the bottom, click where it says "run this program as an administrator". Second method makes it so it does it automatically with a normal double-click for all future use.

7.2 - After installing an ATi HD4850/4870 my onboard sound device is no longer working.
Check your bios and see if your audio device is set to "Auto" or "Disabled". If it is set it to "Enabled". Check your manufacturer's manual or your motherboards manual if you don't know how to get to, and operate your bios.

Nvidia choppy/low fps fix!!!
For an explanation of recommended settings and my computer setups and configs, read below the fix.

The post below explains how to fix Warhammer Online problems using Nvidia cards that are experiencing Choppiness or Low FPS using either Windows XP or Windows Vista. Works for 32bit or 64bit.

This fix sems to work for only the RETAIL version of Warhammer Online, as the BETA client is setup differently. Make sure you are using the retail version if you are having issues, then do the following.

Follow these instructions:

1) Download the latest Official Nvidia driver for your card (You can go here)

2) Uninstall your current drivers by using the Control Panel and remove the Nvidia graphics drivers (or use another program if you prefer)
Win XP go to Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs
Win Vista go to Control Panel > Programs and Features
3) Restart your computer

4) Double-click the downloaded driver from Nvidia (177.41_geforce_winvista_32bit_english_whql.exe)

5) Follow the instructions to install the driver and then restart your computer once again.

6) Now that you are running the latest Nvidia driver you will also have access to the Nvidia Control panel. You can access this through your control panel or by Right-clicking on any of the empty space on your desktop and selecting "NVIDIA Control Panel" from the pop-up menu.

7) Once in the Nvidia Control Panel, expand the top left catagory "3D Settings" so that you can select "Manage 3D Settings"

Click here to view a Screenshot

8 ) On the right side of the window you will currently be viewing your Global Settings for your graphics card. You will need to select the 2nd tab labeled "Program Settings"

Click here to view a Screenshot

9) As shown in the 2nd screenshot, we will now need to add a specific 3D profile for Warhammer Online by selecting WAR.EXE from the "add" option. The default location for this file is: (Yours may show up as just WAR, excluding the .exe)

C:Program FilesElectronic ArtsWarhammer Online - Age of ReckoningWAR.exe

Average video card

10a) If you do not have a top notch Nvidia card and you like to play at higher resolutions, you should make the following changes:
On the Program settings for the war.exe that you just added, scroll down the list towards the bottom and change the Texture filtering to High Performance and then select Apply at the bottom right corner of the NVIDIA Control Panel.(Click here to view a screenshot)
Start Warhammer Online and change your overall graphics settings to "Balanced" or less.
High end video card

10b) With a higher end video card you should be able to run the default settings with your preferred resolution with no problem, you can then select whichever graphics profile in Warhammer meets your desire.

My personal experience with Nvidia and Warhammer Online.

After installing the retail version of Warhammer Online and jumping into the game, my excitement wore off quickly after discovering that my higher end system would sometimes run smooth, but consistently drop down to <10-15 FPS when zoomed in on NPCs or Trees etc, or in PVP and random zones like Chaos and Elf zones, those were horrible. I had similar issues with both of my computes, although the FPS drops and lag did not always happen in the same places. I knew something was wrong because of the power of my systems and began to troubleshoot until it was completely and 100% fixed simply by adding a profile for the war.exe in my NVIDIA control panel. This fixed worked on both of my computers listed below running Windows XP and Windows Vista 32 & 64. Before the fix, looking at the starting High Elf quest NPC zoomed in I got exactly 15FPS. After this change I got exactly 53FPS at the same spot looking at the same NPC at the same angle. My guess is that War.exe is a generic executable abused by other games/viruses and somehow got by graphics cards settings.
