Knight Online is not exactly free to host. There is always cost involved.

1. You need to purchase the licensing rights from the developer to host the game in your country or region this would go from 20k USD to millions depending on what game you need. For World of Warcraft it is rumoured to be 8 million USD.

2. To host an online game requires large hardware investment. You will need from 5-20 servers to load in the full games. Membership database, map databases etc.

3. You need a large bandwidth pipe to be able to support the game itself and your players

4. The developers of the game would require you to pay royalties and revenue share for the games which you host.

5. Setting up of the game in your servers is not easy. You need a localization team to troubleshoot and install as there is so many servers and databases that talks to each other. Usually a full team consisting of a lead programmer, an assistant programmer and a networks specialist takes a minimum of 2 weeks to fully localize and test the setup once it is complete before handover.



That is why you would need to run the game like a business if you decide to do so. You will need to charge your users one way or another to cover your operational and hardware costs.

Knight Online is free to play for e-games, but we derive revenue from other sources.
