Ahn’Qiraj Gates Open on All New Realms

Going forward, the gates of Ahn’Qiraj will start out open on all new realms that are created. While we recognize that this is a unique event, we feel that the complexity of this event can cause various issues that negatively impacts a player’s game play experience. By automatically opening the gates and allowing immediate access to the Ahn’Qiraj instances, we would like to promote the higher level content that is available as well as ensure a smooth overall experience for players on these new realms.

The Black Qiraji Battle Tank will no longer be available with this change to the AQ event.

Absolutely - there is a six month cooldown period for a new realm, during which players cannot transfer their characters, and this is considered perfectly adequate time for players on that realm to complete the war effort and also the quest chain to open the gates if they desire - some realms which were launched just prior to the expansion, such as Darkspear, managed to open the gates and complete the quest chain in less than three months.

This will not apply to already open realms (like Saurfang) that have the gates closed right now.
