Welcome to the "Galactic Senate Weekly Report".

To give Star Wars Galaxies players a better understanding of who, what and why the Galactic Senators are we've decided to but together a weekly report. Enjoy!

This week compiled by BadgerSmaker.

Senator Introduction.

Here we'll have more about one of the Senators. This week we get to know Psychopyro80.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hello all,

I am Psychopyro80, though most everyone calls me Igie.

I have played SWG since day 2 (everyone knows about Day 1 if you were here ). I registered for the forums a little late (as you can tell from the date). Before SWG I mainly played Lineage. I also still play PlanetSide (Markov, VS>TR,NC), Matrix Online (Machines will rise again), and sometimes Ragnarok.

My first master was Bounty Hunter, you know the old days before mounts and vehicles. I was not much for the way it was going, so I eventually settled on my favorite template MDoc/MPike. I have mastered every profession in one form or another, hehe . Not for the holo-grind or for Jedi, just to say I did it. I do like to PvP, although you may have heard different. I was the last Brawler Correspondent before the Senate. I now serve the needs of most of the combat professions as well as Politician and some Trader issues. Because I love melee combat, I took a Jedi and a Spy as well as all 4 Trader professions on TC as well as a Spy, Medic, Jedi, Bounty Hunter and Entertainer on various Live servers.

Nowadays you'll mostly find me on TC helping work thru most of the wonderful bugs before they make it live. A good portion get squished before live, but some still require a not so easy fix. I am generally all over the place as far as where to find me. And even though I do not post as much in some forums does not mean I do not see. I spend alot of time in game and usually don't have alot of time to post, though I do read my PMs and get back as necessary. If there is anything you need answered, I'll do my best. If I can't answer it, I'll direct you to the person who can. I will also be trying to run events on TC for all to participate. I will try to plan these sometime during publishes to give people a chance to see the new stuff as well as other random times.

As for me personally, I will be 28 in April and yes I am male. I design computer systems for private individulas as well as smaller companies, and I have been doing this now for 2 years. I am married and have 4 kids with one on the way. Since I spend most of my time at home nowadays, I do spend alot of time on SWG and the forums and in game. I am also the un-official Vegas tourist information broker in SWG and on the forums

If you have any concerns, feel free to PM me and let me know.

Galactic Senate Forum Report.

Here's a summary of some of the recent goings on the Senate forums.

Marrow1 bids farewell to the mind bar after seeing that it has been removed in the hotfix that went onto TC before publish 28, mentioning that he and many others preferred the pre-publish 25 system where mind was used for healing and asking for some comments from the team on it's removal.
Esharra is interviewed by The Galaxy Report about all things Entertainer, you can download the interview here : Episode 31.

Khristen requests more quick fixes for traders from requests on the Trader forums.

Pawlin chases up info on the Bestine museum painting BUGs. Thunderheart previously mentioned that the designer that wrote the system would look into this.

Marrow1 finds a way to move your group bar, handy for people who have had this get stuck in the middle of the screen.

"Set your screen up so that there is something you can attack right near the group window. Target it. Then move your screen so that the mob is now behind the window. At this point you should be able to grab the group window and move it."

After setting a personal best time for solo'ing HK-47 of 30 minutes, BadgerSmaker asks if there are any plans to increase the overall difficulty of PvE, also stating that the Deathwatch Bunker and Sher Kar are far too easy.

StarNick brings us the results of his Preliminary Heavy Weapon Publish 28 Testing. Very concise stuff. Info from players from the Commando forums is also included.

Customer Services get involved when Elyssa reports that newly crafted Droid Structure Maintenance Modules are not working.

Pawlin requests that the fix for Mustafar pillow schematics be retroactive and asks if this is something that Customer Service can help players with if not.

The debate on the Player Bounty System continues as SamousNemo brings more input from players of the Bounty Hunter forum. The Senate is in agreement that this new system isn't to the standard that we would expect.

Reports from TC come in via Pawlin that combat players that are cl1 can respec to Master Trader and Thunderheart makes sure it gets looked at. Helios_SOE drops a note into Development Discussion that you can read here explaining the plan for respecifing between Trader, Entertainer and Combat.

-MAGIC-Alcapwnd of the Chimaera-European forum reminds BadgerSmaker that it will be St. Georges day. on April 23rd. BadgerSmaker posts a reminder in the Senate just in case we English end up with some poorly drawn sword or dragon icons being rushed to the forums.

Brenlo dropped in on the weekend and asked for the Senates assistance in getting the word out about the up coming Community Summits.

We have a Publish 28 bug thread posted up by Red-Dwarf. The Senate starts to fill it up. Shadowbrak submits fixes for some new pilot mission bugs found by Red-Dwarf to do with Storm Squadron Pilot and the Y-8 quest. Red-Dwarf goes off to find any more new pilot bugs for publish 28.

The fix to healing action costs on TC prompts Psychopyro80 to ask questions about the changes. There is a thread here where you can have your say Focus Thread: Healing Costs Mind vs. Action (Publish 28 Change). Helios_SOE drops into the Medic forum here to assure us that the costs aren't set in stone and will be tweaked.

Khristen asks about impact on the drop rate for meat, hide and bone after milk and eggs are added to the loot table.

Psychopyro80 asks if Publish 27.9 will be included on TC as part of Publish 28? The 27.9 hotifx goes to TC midweek.

Elyssa spots a trade post where someone is trying to sell a CSR generated ship component. Customer Services act to delete the item.

Sadly, Tanks officially retires from the Senate.

The Community Summits are announced and the US based Senators start booking their places. Psychopyro80 books for Los Angeles, IIscandar heads for Austin and Darth_Sushi and Pawlin sign up for Seattle. Elyssa tries to get time off work to attend one.

From the Galactic Civil War forum, BadMisterFrosty brings us player input on the Player Bounty System that is currently on Test Center. People just don't like the way that a Bounty Hunter goes about "hunting" their bounties by spamming commands at players.

BadMisterFrosty also posts an enlightening thread about how small fixes can have a big impact, like changes to the User Interface, Music and other immersive ideas.

"If there's one thing that completely and utterly irks me in this game, is iconic and extremely powerful meaning titles simply being given out like cheap toothpicks.", Heswindu tells the Senate in no uncertain terms. He's talking about the fact that on TC with publish 28, cl90 Jedi can choose the title of "Jedi Master". He'd rather see this title reserved for future content.

After seeing a lot of questions about it on the forums, BadgerSmaker asks what can be done about recolouring pre-publish 28 Mandolorian Armour seeing as new colour options will be available for newly crafted Mando. Customer Services confirm that it's not something they can do anymore so we turn to the Devs to code in a solution along the lines of a one-off recolour option for pre publish 28 Mandolorian.

Meatpuppet1987 begins drafting a "Who's Who" of the SWG forums, with a list of Devs, Community Staff and Mods and their job titles.

"Do we need more Senators?", asks BadgerSmaker, there's certainly plenty to do and more people on board would ceratinly help. Currently there is no official recruitment process, unless you can get into Thunderheart's good books it seems.

Psychopyro80 requests an increase in the manual sampling rate for traders. BadgerSmaker confirms that sampling needs to be more fast-paced and BadMisterFrosty questions just how Iconic sampling is.

The Senate winds down towards the end of the week as the SoE team head out for the Community Summits.

Test Center Senate Report.

Psychopyro80 has been testing loot drops and thrashing out the whole healing acion cost issue as well as testing the new aditions to the Legacy Quest.

Jetpack Crafting seems to work fine, BadgerSmaker managed to sneak an Engineer past the Super Battle Droids and get a Jetpack Crafted.

Red-Dwarf brings us news on other work that's been done recently on Test Center.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well, been a very busy week on TC, shortly after the last report P28 landed. Lot and lots to test and lots of new toys to play with. So far we've found it to be a fairly stable publish, only seen one cluster crash and not had any CTD reports (which is pretty good for a publish!).

Bugs are of course around especially with the entertainer changes, also a number of space missions broke thanks to the changes there - Shadowbrak has been on fire getting space fixed so far (/cheer Travis), we also had some early problems the first weekend as the publish had been released without the hotfix that had gone live, leading to some confusion as to what was going on, but it seems now we have the full release of P28 and most of the headlines are starting to come together in practice although one has had to be pulled for now, Syren's is rather too broke thegodofchuck, Sehreval, kiyrilla and I managed to break it open

We could use some more pilots around at the moment. While so far space mission bugs have been fixed nice and quickly we need to check them all, so anyone good at space come over and level up a pilot please (not Storm Squad, we know that one is gated at the present). Which brings me on to one bit we have had a lot of comments on in the TC forum...frogs.

The problems noted with Storm Squad wouldn't have been found with frogs giving out master pilot as they have in the past, and we have had problems with weapons where the frog method of creating the item isn't the same as some of the ingame mechanics, leading to the looted weapon bug not being stopped, and we risk if frogs made items like the cyber arms they could be bugged but frog ones work, since no one would have an incentive to go do the quest and earn one we wouldn't know. TH made a great post I've quoted below to explain how frogs are useful, but right now TC isn't doing a play test, it's doing its day job - bug hunting.

Having said that TC is a great place to come and I do recommend it, we have double xp to encourage folk and TC has never been wiped, so if you come and make a toon here and grind it up it will be there nice and ready for future publish and hotfix tests. We've also this week had a couple of well known testers who left after the NGE return, welcome back Took and Atheana! You'll find a great bunch of folk around the server, so come on over for a change of pace and a breath of fresh air and help make the game better for everyone, just hit that little button next to the "full scan" one to join us.

How about dropping these off of a frog so we can properly test all of them?

If they dcame from a frog, they wouldn't be versions that could be tested. Stuff that comes off the frog is only for play testing, not "testing testing"

Cya all on TC, we are likely to have P28 for at least another week while the bugs get squashed, so hop on and help us test.

Player Spotlight

New for this week and for every week after we'll have an SWG player let us know who they are and what they get up to in game these days.

To start things off I asked a friend on mine on Chimaera to write the first one:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Well, First a little about Me..
*Stands up*

My name is Nick, I’m 31, living in the UK, I’ve been playing SWG since June 2003 and I’ve been asked to provide a diary of my weeks activities in SWG.

I started out on the Wanderhome server, then when it went live I created a new character on Europe-Chimaera, and I freely admit to anyone who will listen that I’m an avid Swgoholic.

My main character goes by the name of Tyler Silverwing and he’s a Medic - Pistoleer/MCM pre-nge, Pistoleer/BH/Smuggler pre-cu - and, along with my (real life) girlfriend, I help run - a small guild which is more for like-minded friends rather than an unstoppable server-taking-over force.

Like every other guild we lost a fair few members with the NGE as the game changed and our guildchat became a little quiet. Since that time I’ve started using these forums more and more and found it to be an excellent source for making new friends, offering advice, grouping and (occasionally) the odd drunken flamefest

Anyway, I’m rambling now and this article is supposed to be about my week’s activities in SWG, So now the boring stuff is out of the way lets have a look at the last few entries in Tyler's datapad..

LIVE EVENT: ANCHORHEAD

It’s been quite a busy week on Chimaera this week, We’ve had a live event almost every night so far, The first of which was an Imperial invasion on Anchorhead, Which quickly turned from PvE to PvP.

Praecor (Who you’ll know better as Badgersmaker) and myself turned up after a Galaxy wide spatial message was broadcast to all citizens of Chimaera, Stepping off the shuttle we were overwhelmed by the amount of high level NPCs and AT-ST’s rumbling around the place, Outnumbered and outgunned? Naturally we dived right in and had a blast!

LIVE EVENT: NABOO

The second highlight of the week was a player organised PVE event at the Weapons research facility POI on Naboo.

It started out with HK-47 and friends defending the facility from our investigations, After the droids had been taken care of multiple patrols of Stormtroopers, ScoutTroopers and eventually Dark Jedi Knights arrived and gave many of us a bit of a kicking.

I was the only medic in attendance at this event, and I was kept very busy running around rezzing people.

Needless to say it was fantastic fun, and although only a small group of players turned up, the challenge made the whole event much more enjoyable.

HK-47: TIMES

Around the middle of last week, I threw down the gauntlet to Badgersmaker in regards to solo HK-run times, starting around the 1 hour mark we’ve both been working on improving our time to the fastest possible, Which makes for a very challenging way to pass the time in game.

Currently Badger is in the lead with a time of 30 minutes (Grr!) compared to my fastest time of 36 minutes, Still.. next time….

BUNKER DECORATING

After months of putting it off and using my Mustafar bunker as nothing but a glorified cardboard box to drop things in, I’ve finally started a decorating project.

My original plan was to have the main room as a trophy room for veteran rewards, rare loot and so on – with the two smaller rooms dedicated to ROTW and TOOW.

Then I realised exactly how much ‘stuff’ I actually have and had to rethink my plans, Better put that off for another 6 months then.

COMMUNITY HELP

Finally, the rest of my free time this week has been spent helping other people in game.

Whether it’s in space with mission help and the destruction of the corvette - Or taking a well known Chimaera PvP’er on a tour of mustafar and his first tentative steps into the world of questing for XP.

And that’s my week in SWG so far.
