SWG Copyright expires Feb/06...??? (??)

Rumours rumours and more rumours. Everywhere I look I am seeing this same message out there. Can we please get an official word on it so that I can get back into the game without having the carpet pulled out from under me yet again in a couple months...


The following is just one of many published reports on the web:
Rumours have also been floating around that during certain meetings within the company, it has been suggested that the company will not be renewing their copyright license with LucasArts in February of 2006 to maintain the game. If these rumours are true, and SOE does not feel that re-purchasing the license for another year will be worth the cost of maintaining the game, it is possible that the game will simply be altogether cancelled early next year. Many players feel that it is inevitable given the poor feedback they received regarding their most recent game overhauls. Of course, all of this is pure speculation as SOE has not commented on this information in any official capacity.

What I'm looking for is something with a little more substance than the typical 1-word "Rumor" reply. Someone please have the stones to go on the record and answer two simple questions:

(1) Is SOE's license for SWG up for renewal in Feb/06?

(2) If so, will SOE be putting their money where their mouth is with regards to the NGE and renewing their commitment to improving the game by keeping it alive.
